The Taiwanese company announced a dual-core SoC also integrates all the communication modules WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3.5G baseband, as well as FM radio and GPS. The solution is designed specifically for entry-level smartphones

MediaTek, a reality that operates in the field of the development of communication and multimedia chips, has announced a new System-on-Chip for smartphones that is credited with being the first dual-core SoC integral controller WiFi, FM, GPS, Bluetooth in addition to the form with the baseband modem and 3.5 G. The purpose of MediaTek is to bring the dual-core solutions also in the band input of the smartphone market.

The new MT6572, the name of the System-on-Chip Mediatek, integrates two core ARM Cortex-A7that operate at a frequency of 1.2 GHz and a PowerVR graphics core 5XT-Series. The chip also integrates modem Mediatek 8 HSPA + / TD-SCDMA technology and WiFi, FM, GPS and Bluetooth. The SoC supports playback and recording video at 720p, is able to handle up to a 5 megapixel camera and display up to 960x540 pixels. The chip is made with the process to 28 nanometers.

"MediaTek continues to lead the democratization of smartphones redefining the entry-level segment, moving the reference to the dual-core computing. With operators around the world that seek to reduce subsidies for the device, the key to enable our customers to respond quickly to opportunities of the vibrant mobile market is offering higher performance and reference design for easy adoption.

dell'MT6572 The launch will further extend the already widely diversified catalog of MediaTek and enable our partners to offer a complete range of smartphones for all segments of the performance, "said Jeffrey Ju, general manager of MediaTek smartphone.

The high integration of the new SoC MediaTek will reduce the cost of procurement of materials and to simplify the development of finished devices, thus accelerating time to market. The creation of a dual-core SoC designed expressly to the world of entry-level smartphone should be considered observing the present scenario where most of the growth of the smartphone market comes just from the entry level segment: both markets in the developing world, with more and more users that for the first time access to the world of smartphones with relatively inexpensive solutions, both in mature markets with traders looking to push deeper penetration of smartphones, but trying to reduce, at the same time, subsidies for the purchase of terminals coupled to traffic plans.
