"Mamiya Leaf has announced the arrival on the market of two new digital backs can capture a wide spectrum of frequencies including infrared"
Among the products that have become the photographic market niche you can safely count medium format cameras and their backs; prohibitive prices and the continuous increase in the potential of modern full frame DSLR have indeed slowed a segment until a few years ago much larger. One of the biggest players in the market, Mamiya Leaf, recently unveiled two new medium format backs: I think WS 80 and WS 60.
It is actually modified versions of the classic models in the range I, the WS series shows as suggested by the acronym (Wide Spectrum) the ability of the two backs to acquire information about frequencies of the spectrum is usually not captured.
Through the IR cutoff filter replacement with a protective glass and proper adjustment of the position of the sensor spectrum acquisition backs has been expanded allowing the acquisition of frequencies belonging to the field of IR (~ 700nm). Will of course be possible to mount the IR cutoff filter on the optics in such a way to also acquire images from the more traditional color range, as well as convert I 80 and I 60 in the new range WS. Still no announcement regarding the availability and price instead.
