On the occasion of Expo West DESIGN AMD has announced the new G-Series family of SoCbased CPU sulll'architettura known by the code name "Jaguar" in conjunction with the graphics core from AMD Radeon HD 8000. The SoC, also known by the code name of Kabini , is aimed at embedded applications such as industrial control, automation, digital signage, gaming systems, storage SMB, the IP-TV, network applications, solutions medical and so on.
The G-Series APU from AMD will be characterized by two or four cores Jaguar and GPU Radeon HD 8000 based on the GCN architecture (some models are not equipped with integrated GPU), DDR3 memory controller with ECC support and I / O controller as SATA and USB. The new processor family tries to cover the needs of low power consumption with models ranging from 9W to 25W. The chips are designed to be able to operate in conditions of temperature from -40 ° C to +85 ° C. The series of SoC G-Series supports DirectX 11.1, OpenGL, OpenCL 1.22 per 4.2xe activities parallel computing.
AMD will deliver the SoC platform G-Series during the second quarter of 2013. The following five versions of the G-Series APU that will be available at launch:
GX-420CA with AMD Radeon HD 8400E: quad-core CPU 2.0 GHz, GPU Radeon HD 8500E 600MHz, 25W TDP
GX-415GA with AMD Radeon HD 8330E: quad-core CPU at 1.50 GHz, Radeon HD 8330E GPU to 500MHz, 15W TDP
GX-217GA with AMD Radeon HD 8280E: dual-core CPU at 1.65 GHz, GPU Radeon HD 8280E 450MHz, 15W TDP
GX-210HA with AMD Radeon HD 8210e: 1.0GHz dual-core CPU, GPU Radeon HD 8210e 300MHz, 9W TDP
GX-416RA: quad-core CPU at 1.60 GHz, no GPU, 15W TDP.
Prices range from 49 to 72 dollars. According to statements by AMD, the new G-Series family "Kabini" is able to show an increase in performance CPU side more than double (113% more) than previous solutions based on G-Series Brazos and 20% more on the front CPU.
