In 2012, China was the world's largest market for the sale of P C, exceeding for the first time in North America. During the past year we sold about 69 million PCs in China, compared with 66 million in the U.S., according to data released by iSuppli .
These data are not surprising in view of both the Chinese population and the gradual spread of PCs in different regions of this country. Analyzing sales data in detail emerge, however, some peculiarities that make PC sales in China is unique with respect to the average devices sold globally.
Where in the world 64% of PCs sold and notebook computers, with the remaining 36% desktop,China's two types of PC win 50% each. A justification for this trend can be found in rural areas, where consumers tend to prefer a desktop PC as opposed to what happens in other nations of the world.
Very different even the breakdown of sales between private and professional clients. If the world sees the average 65% of the PC intended to consumer and private, with the remaining 35% allocated to professional activities, in China there is a distribution of 50% for each of the two segments. It 'obvious from this figure as that in place in China and a first wave of computerization, which affects to a greater extent then the professional activities and who relapses with lower incidence in the private sector.
The estimates for 2013 predict an increase in sales of between 3% and 4% in China, a positive rate interesting considering contraction in sales recorded in 2012 and planned for the current year in more mature markets. Having said that in China the range of smartphones and tablets puts pressure on PC vendors, committed to having to cope with the growing consumer interest in this type of mobile products just like what happens in every region of the world.
